MESSALONSKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET TIMELINE

NEW – DISTRICT BUDGET HEARING

Wednesday, April 30, 2008 – 6:00 p.m. – Messalonskee Middle School

As part of a new budget validation law passed by the Legislature last year, the District will be presenting its budget in a town meeting style format on April 30. This is a critical step toward approval of the 2008-09 budget. During this hearing a moderator will be elected, and warrants will be presented to the voting public, who will have the last say in approving the proposed 2008-09 budget. Community members will be able to make motions that will impact the outcome of the proposed budget. We encourage all community members to attend this very important new element to the budget process. We will leave the evening of April 30 with a District budget that will be presented to the voters on Monday, May 5, 2008.

Belgrade: Center for All Seasons, One Center Drive, Belgrade
Oakland: Williams Elementary School, 55 Pleasant Street, Oakland
Rome: Rome Community Center, 8 Mercer Road, Rome
Sidney: Sidney Town Office, 2986 Middle Road, Sidney

Voters are asked to vote on the proposed 2008-09 M.S.A.D. 47 school budget.

There will be a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event
When: May 17th
Time: 9:00 am. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon)
Where: Augusta Public Works Garage

This is an opportunity for residents to bring in the following items; oil paint, pesticides, solvents, varnishes, waste fuels, used motor oil and swimming pool chemicals.

There is a required pre-registration and prepay at the Belgrade Town Office. TheTown will be paying for the first 5-gallon unit for the first 100 residents who pre-register.

There is a cost of $25.00 per 5-gallon unit. Example of units: 1 gallon oil paint, plus 2 gallons paint thinner, plus 1/2 gallon of pool cleaner would be one "unit" or seven gallons of miscellaneous materials would be two "units".
