There is a board of five Selectmen who serve staggered three-year terms. These elected officials oversee aspects of the town’s affairs, budgets, assessing, General Assistance, committee work, and more. The Board is also supported by an Executive Secretary.

The town of Belgrade has adopted a Town Manager form of government. He/She oversees the day to day activities of the Town on behalf of the Board of Selectpersons.

The Selectpersons meetings are generally held at the Town Office, but during warmer months (or to accommodate larger crowds), the meeting may be held at the Center for All Seasons or the North Belgrade Community Center, on the first and the third Tuesdays of the month beginning at 7:00. If there is a Public Hearing scheduled for the evening the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Agendas are posted at the Town Office the Friday prior to the meeting.

TOWN MEETINGS

Residents of Belgrade vote in town affairs and for town officer(s) annually. Secret ballot voting takes place at the Center for All Seasons and is followed by Town Meeting which is held the following day at the Center for All Seasons. The Town currently operates under a calendar year January 1 through December 31. Town Meetings are held in March. Annual Reports are mailed to all Town of Belgrade taxpayers and non-residents who are taxpayers before Town Meeting. Copies are also available at the Town Hall. All state and federal elections also take place at the Center for All Seasons.
